Feeling Sparks was written and compiled by Dr Serahni Symington and Liebe Symington.
Serahni is a play therapist and counselor with a PhD in Psychology.
She has been working with children for many years, visiting with them and having play dates in her office to support them with their daily emotional challenges and other behavioural or scholastic progress. She is both a trained teacher and a registered counsellor, with a Master’s Degree in Play Therapy.
Liebe is a very creative, currently 10-year-old, whose personality and way of looking at the world teaches us how to understand, love and learn like a child. She is currently in grade 5 and involved in art, drama and choir.
The Relevance of the Prophetic Ministry Today.
In the Old Testament, Prophets had to endure opposition.
There is no question about the courage and boldness needed when functioning in the prophetic office. Prophets today must accept that there will always be opposition and have the courage to stand firm in their ministry. God will give you the boldness to speak. If they don’t listen, you still speak. God knows the hearts of people. He warned Ezekiel about the difficulty he would experience but still needed to proclaim what He said to him. God encouraged him in Ezekiel 3:4-11.
God is waiting for the prophets to speak, proclaim, declare, and prophecy. Prophetic utterances should affect the economy, people’s health, governments, and nations.
Modern prophets, or today’s prophets, who are still moving in the shadows, must emerge and come forth with more vigour and speak the Word to bring about radical change and transformation. God still has the same compassion for His people as He did in the time of Moses.
Secular Journeys with Jesus Christ to become…
This book is a compilation of testimonies from various believers about their earlier secular lives until they encountered God. He called us into different full-time ministries to become what He had planned all along…
Authors from diverse backgrounds and walks of life found themselves in a struggle until a significant encounter with God led them to leave their secular lifestyles.
Examples of such struggles:
- Experiences in prison prompted a transformation and reliance on prayer.
- Another author shares a shift from a life of gambling and deceit to faith and redemption.
- Being part of gangs, this specific writer starts with a short introduction to gangsterism in Cape Flats, highlighting societal issues.
- Another writer’s story emphasises the importance of personal choice in faith despite a Christian upbringing.
Turning points:
One writer writes that the turning point in his life was when he reached a state of brokenness and felt the warm presence of God while kneeling in the grass. He realised it was time to surrender his life to Jesus. I boldly said the Prayer of Salvation, which filled me with peace and purpose, replacing my feelings of emptiness with the overflowing love of Christ. This moment he marked the beginning of my Christian journey and transformation.
May these real-life stories inspire you, dear reader, to find hope in your own journey. I praise God that He planned this before the beginning of time; I believe there are indeed people out there waiting to hear our stories to find themselves through the eyes of our Saviour and friend, Jesus Christ.
