PART 1
Good day to you, and thank you for stopping by to read and hear what God wants to say to you. It is a privilege to be a voice for God’s prophecies.
This series is about Jesus Christ: to know Him more deeply and directly from His Word.
A whole set of episodes in this series is on the way. I gladly share the discoveries and revelations that I have experienced about the prophecies written in the Old Testament: it is too many to remain silent about. That is why I am packaging it into several episodes over the next few weeks.
What is a PROPHESY?
To prophesy = God speaks through a person, and that person speaks to others under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and it carries His authority. It is therefore not a prediction.
For those who want to dig deeper into the Bible through intense study, it is important to know how, when, and by whom the Bible was compiled. That is why I present the answers here, directly from the Word.
1. Who wrote the Bible?
A key verse that confirms this is:
2 Peter 1:2021 (NKJV):
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”.
This passage teaches us:
- The Bible is not open to arbitrary or private interpretation.
- The origin of the Word is the Holy Spirit; therefore, the Holy Spirit must lead us in interpretation.
- The Word explains itself, because it is one Spirit that inspired it all.
Absolutely amazing!
Another strong confirmation is Acts 17:10-12. Paul was teaching the gospel to the people of Berea in the synagogue, as was his custom:
Acts 17:10-12 (NKJV):
“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Therefore, many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men”.
Together, these two passages give us a solid foundation:
- The Bible comes from God (not from people).
- The Bible must be tested and explained by the Bible itself.
2. God’s command through Joshua 1:8
Joshua 1:8 (NKJV):
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success”.
Joshua 1:8 places the emphasis on more than just reading; it is about studying, meditating, and applying. The Lord gives Joshua a key to spiritual and practical prosperity:
- This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth – You must speak it, confess it, and share it.
- You shall meditate in it day and night – Not a quick read, but think, reflect, and study as someone who chews food slowly.
- That you may observe to do according to all that is written in it – The goal of Bible study is obedience.
- For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success – God’s blessing follows when His Word is built into our hearts and lives.
Our Life Guide
The Bible calls us not only to know what it says but to study it as a life guide and live it intentionally.
The Hebrew word for meditate (הגה hagah) literally means to murmur, to mutter softly, to repeat over and over an active study, repetition, and deep reflection.
Psalm 1:2 (NKJV):
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night”.
Summary
- The Bible comes from God (not from people).
- The Bible must be tested and explained by the Bible Scripture interprets Scripture.
- God wants us to know, study, meditate on, and apply the Bible.
Our Series
Our series is about Jesus, the Messiah, who was repeatedly foretold and prophesied in the Old Testament.
We begin in Genesis to learn where and when the first prophecy was given:
- Genesis 3:15 (NKJV): “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel”.
- the first direct Messianic prophecy: victory over Satan? Do you agree?
- Genesis 12:3 (NKJV): “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed”
- The Messiah would come from Abraham’s line, to be a blessing to all nations – Do you agree?
We will discuss this next time. Read, study, and conduct your own research to confirm if this is true. Look for other Scriptures to help you understand.
Remember: Scripture interprets Scripture.
This brings us to the end of today’s message.
I trust that you are newly inspired to study the Bible with greater excitement, intentionally, and then to apply it in your own life.
I thank God for the privilege of having a Bible and for being able to use it openly, even on our phones or any other technology.
